Responsibilities

AMS Technologies is seeking a Technical Writer to join our team in San Antonio.  The selected individual would be responsible for writing, editing and rewriting technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications and related technical publications to communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications.  The ideal candidate should exhibit knowledge and/or experience with the following:

• Communicates effectively with the technical writer staff, managers and other stakeholders
• Acquires subject knowledge by interviewing product developers and engineers
• Assists in the preparation of illustrative materials, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts
• Conducts quality review of materials, working closely with the technical writer staff and the original author(s)
• Translates complex data into user-friendly text for print publications, such as technical reports, user and training manuals, and government proposals 
• Gathers information through research, statistical reports, and interviews with technical staff and subject matter experts (SMEs)
• Develops cataloging systems, and maintains records, files, electronic media and archiving of information for publications 
• Familiar with technical standards, principles, and theories 
• Works under general supervision, providing solutions to technical problems of moderate scope/complexity

Requirements

• Top Secret, TS/SCI Eligible
• Bachelor's degree in technical writing or Journalism, and 2 years of technical writing experience.
• High School and 8 years of technical writing experience

Desired

• Already hold a Top Secret or higher clearance.
• Experience working in IT writing industry
• Experience working for the Air Force Command and/or US government agencies
• Familiar with AF Cyber Weapon Systems
• Familiar with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) / Agile methodology 
• Familiarity with using Atlassian product suite (Confluence/Jira)
• Government technical writing experience.
