Responsibilities

AMS Technologies is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support the team in San Antonio, TX.  The Systems Engineer will be responsible for monitoring, detecting, analyzing, and responding to Cyber system events and incidents within Systems Integration Lab systems and networks with minimal supervision.
 
  • Determines system and security requirements by evaluating business strategies and requirements; researching information security standards; conducting system security and vulnerability analyses and risk assessments; studying architecture/platform; identifying integration issues; preparing cost estimates.
  • Implements security systems by specifying intrusion detection methodologies and equipment; performing equipment and software installation and calibration; preparing preventive and reactive measures; creating, transmitting, and maintaining keys; providing technical support; completing documentation.
  • Engineer’s security solutions and verifies security of systems by using STIGs and ACAS.
  • Maintains security by monitoring and ensuring compliance to standards, policies, and procedures; conducting incident response analyses; developing and conducting training programs.
  • Responsible for the engineering, development, implementation, and integration of a DoD IA architectures, systems, or system components for use within computing, network, and enclave environments.
  • Ensure that the architecture and design of development and operational systems are functional and secure. This includes designs for program of record systems and special purpose processing nodes with platform IT interconnectivity.
  • Design, test, and implement complex VMWare environments to include creating datacenters, clusters, distributed switches, configuring HA and FT, and vSAN.
  • Troubleshoot issues that arise in vCenter / ESXi with minimal downtime to customer.
  • Update architectural documentation and drawings.
  • May participate in business development activities.

Requirements

  • Active Top Secret with TS/SCI Eligibility
  • Bachelors degree in Systems Engineering or Computer Science with 5+ years of experience.  Masters degree in Systems Engineering or Computer Science with 2+ years of experience.  
  • At least 3 years of increasingly complex and progressive experience in computer systems engineering.
  • Strong understanding of VMWare and all associated tools / features (i.e., vSAN, HA, FT, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of Windows domain environment and administration (i.e., Domain Controllers, Certificate Authorities, DNS, DHCP, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of Linux (RHEL and Ubuntu) and Windows Operating Systems (Windows 10/11, Server 2008/2012/2016/2019)
  • Strong understanding of VMWare and virtual environments (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter)
  • Strong understanding of Networking (VLANS, TCP/IP, virtual networking, Routing/Switching)
  • Strong understanding of Software Defined Storage
  • Strong understanding of applying NIST standards and STIGs to secure systems configurations
  • Ability to work with stakeholders to analyze systems requirements, develop solutions to meet those requirements, and implement the solutions.
  • Experience with implementing systems solutions for cloud and hybrid applications.
  • Experience with out-of-band management for servers and network devices
  • Experience with Dell hardware and storage
  • Experience with scripting and automation (PowerShell, Python, Ansible)
  • Experience with Windows Deployment Services (WDS)
  • Experience with Windows Server Update Service (WSUS)

  • Preferred Certifications: VMware Certified Professional (VCP), CompTIA Security+ (Security+), Microsoft Certification (MCSE), Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP)
  • RedHat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
  • Experience with Certificate Authorities (CA)
  • Experience with Security Onion
  • Experience with Software Defined Networking
  • Experience implementing and managing VPNs (Global Protect), and Firewalls (pfSense, PaloAlto, Cisco ASA)
  • Experience with Dell and Cisco networking hardware
  • Experience with COTS or open-source Network Security Monitoring Solutions or the Air Force's Cyber Vulnerability and Hunt Weapons System
  • Familiarization with Jira, Confluence
  • Familiarization with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and Scrum

Certifications

  • Certification 8570/8140 IAT II (required within 6 months)
  • CompTIA Security+ (Security+)
  • Preferred Certifications: VMware Certified Professional (VCP), CompTIA Security+ (Security+), Microsoft Certification (MCSE), Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP)
